This autologous dendritic cell vaccine is an experimental cellular immunotherapy developed by Clinica Universidad de Navarra for the treatment of pediatric and young adult patients with refractory or metastatic solid tumors, specifically sarcomas and central nervous system (CNS) tumors. The therapeutic process involves isolating a patient's own monocytes via leukapheresis, differentiating them into dendritic cells ex vivo, and pulsing them with a lysate derived from the patient's own tumor tissue. This tumor lysate provides a personalized array of tumor-associated antigens. Once matured and re-administered to the patient, these dendritic cells present the tumor antigens to the patient's T cells, aiming to induce a robust, tumor-specific cytotoxic immune response to eliminate residual or metastatic cancer cells.
