Autologous dermal fibroblasts is a cell therapy developed by the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, in collaboration with the Minsk Scientific-Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantation and Hematology. The therapy involves the isolation of dermal fibroblasts from a patient's own skin biopsy, which are then expanded in vitro and transplanted back into the wound bed of chronic wounds or trophic ulcers. The treatment protocol typically combines the local transplantation of these fibroblasts (at a dose of 50,000 cells/cm²) with LED phototherapy to stimulate tissue regeneration and accelerate the healing of non-healing wounds. Preclinical studies have demonstrated the ability of these cells to promote tissue repair, and a Phase 1/2 clinical trial (NCT04483934) has been conducted to evaluate safety and efficacy.
