This autologous cell therapy involves the use of cultured dermal fibroblasts, which are isolated from a patient's own skin and expanded in vitro before being transplanted back into non-healing wounds or trophic ulcers. Developed by the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in collaboration with the Minsk Scientific-Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantation and Hematology, the treatment is typically administered at a therapeutic dose of 50,000 cells per cm² of the wound area. The therapy is used in conjunction with local LED phototherapy to stimulate cellular activity and accelerate tissue regeneration. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for its safety and efficacy in treating chronic, non-healing skin lesions.
