Overview

Autologous Endorem-labelled mononuclear cells are a cell therapy product consisting of a patient's own (autologous) peripheral blood or bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells that have been ex vivo labelled with Endorem, a superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticle contrast agent. The primary purpose of this labelling is to enable noninvasive tracking of the administered therapeutic cells using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Mononuclear cell populations include lymphocytes (T, B, NK cells), monocytes, and sometimes progenitor or stem cell subsets. The SPIO labelling does not significantly impair cell viability or migratory function. This approach is primarily used in clinical research to monitor the biodistribution and fate of infused therapeutic immune or stem/progenitor cells in regenerative medicine and immunotherapy trials[3][6][10].
