Autologous epidermal basal cells is a cellular therapy involving the transplantation of a patient's own basal keratinocytes, which include a high concentration of epidermal stem cells and progenitor cells, to facilitate skin regeneration. Typically harvested from the patient during a surgical procedure and processed into a suspension, these cells are applied to wound surfaces or combined with dermal scaffolds (such as autologous scar dermal scaffolds) to accelerate re-epithelialization and improve the quality of wound repair. The therapy aims to restore the regenerative capacity of the epidermis, thereby improving graft survival rates and reducing the incidence of hypertrophic scar recurrence and contracture.
