Autologous expanded bone marrow mesenchymal progenitor cells (MSV) is an advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) developed by the Institut de Terapia Regenerativa Tissular (ITRT). It consists of mesenchymal stem cells harvested from a patient's own bone marrow, which are then expanded ex vivo to reach therapeutic concentrations. The therapy is primarily investigated for the treatment of refractory patellar tendinopathy, where it is administered via ultrasound-guided intratendinous and peritendinous injection. The cells are intended to promote tissue regeneration and repair through mesenchymal differentiation and paracrine signaling, addressing chronic tendon gaps and functional deficits that have failed conventional treatments such as eccentric exercises, shockwave therapy, or surgery.
