Autologous fecal microbiota transplantation (aFMT) is an investigational biologic therapy developed and studied by the Tel-Aviv Sourasky Medical Center for the treatment of antibiotic-associated dysbiosis. The procedure involves collecting and preserving a patient's own fecal matter prior to antibiotic treatment. After the antibiotic course is completed, the preserved microbiota is transplanted back to the patient to restore the native gut microbiome. A clinical study (NCT03218579) and a corresponding publication in *Cell* in 2018 demonstrated that aFMT promoted rapid and near-complete reconstitution of the gut mucosal microbiome, whereas comparator treatment with probiotics actually delayed recovery. [9] The intervention is prepared from the patient's own pre-treatment stool and does not have a commercial brand name.
