Overview

Autologous fibrin glue is a patient-specific, blood-derived platelet-concentrate preparation investigated by Inonu University for management of palatal donor-site wounds after free gingival graft surgery. The preparation is produced from the patient's own blood and applied to the palatal wound as an adhesive fibrin-rich biologic matrix. It is intended to support hemostasis and tissue repair through the local fibrin scaffold and platelet-derived mediators that may promote fibroblast activity and angiogenesis. In a randomized controlled clinical trial, autologous fibrin glue improved wound-healing and postoperative morbidity measures versus control treatment and showed superior wound-healing measures to injectable platelet-rich fibrin in this setting.
