The autologous FL vaccine is a personalized therapeutic cancer vaccine developed for patients with follicular lymphoma (FL). It is created by isolating the unique immunoglobulin (idiotype, or Id) protein from a patient's own tumor cells. This Id protein is then conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH), an immunogenic carrier protein, and administered subcutaneously along with granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) as an adjuvant. The goal of the therapy is to stimulate the patient’s immune system—specifically T cell responses—against their own lymphoma cells by targeting this unique idiotype antigen. The approach leverages each patient’s individual tumor antigens to generate a highly specific anti-tumor immune response[1]. This strategy has been studied in clinical trials for follicular lymphoma following chemotherapy-induced remission[1].
