Overview

Autologous hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are being evaluated by Ruijin Hospital as a therapeutic "boost" to treat severe or prolonged myelosuppression in patients with B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (B-NHL) who have undergone chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. Myelosuppression, characterized by a significant decrease in blood cell production, is a common high-risk immunohematologic toxicity associated with CAR-T treatments. This intervention involves the infusion of a previously collected and cryopreserved reserve of the patient's own HSCs. Once infused, these cells are intended to engraft in the bone marrow and restore hematopoiesis, thereby accelerating the recovery of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets in patients who do not respond to standard supportive care.
