Overview

Autologous human polyclonal regulatory T cells (Tregs) are an adoptive cell therapy being developed for neurodegenerative and autoimmune diseases. This specific candidate, identified by the code NP001 and developed by Shanghai Saierxin Biomedical Technology (CellXen), consists of a patient's own Tregs that are isolated from peripheral blood, expanded ex vivo, and then re-administered. In the context of multiple system atrophy (MSA), NP001 is administered via intrathecal injection to directly target neuroinflammation within the central nervous system. The mechanism of action centers on the ability of Tregs to suppress the pro-inflammatory environment and microglial activation associated with alpha-synuclein aggregation, potentially slowing the progression of neurodegeneration and preserving neurological function in MSA patients.
