Overview

Autologous infrapatellar fat pad stromal vascular fraction (IPFP-SVF) is a cell-based therapy derived from the adipose tissue located behind and below the patella (the infrapatellar fat pad). The stromal vascular fraction (SVF) is a heterogeneous mixture of cells obtained through the enzymatic digestion or mechanical processing of adipose tissue, containing adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs), endothelial cells, pericytes, and various immune cells. In the context of orthopedic treatment, IPFP-SVF is typically administered via intra-articular injection to promote cartilage repair and reduce inflammation in patients with knee osteoarthritis or articular cartilage injuries. The therapeutic effect is believed to be mediated through the paracrine secretion of growth factors and cytokines that modulate the joint environment and support tissue regeneration.
