STP-001 is a code name for an investigational cell therapy being developed by Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. This innovative therapy involves the transplantation of dopaminergic neural precursor cells, which are differentiated from the patient's own (autologous) induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), directly into the brain. The goal is to replace the dopaminergic neurons that are progressively lost in Parkinson's disease, thereby aiming to restore motor function and alleviate symptoms. The therapy is currently in early Phase 1 clinical development.
