Overview
Autologous Magicell NK (Magicell-NK) is an autologous ex vivo expanded and activated natural killer (NK) cell therapy developed by Medigen Biotechnology. The therapy consists of the patient's own CD3−CD56+ NK cells, which are expanded in vitro over approximately 14 days to achieve high purity and viability without the use of feeder cells. Autologous Magicell NK is designed to target and eliminate residual cancer cells post-surgery to prevent recurrence. Its mechanism of action involves NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity, including the secretion of perforin and granzymes to induce apoptosis, death receptor-mediated killing, and the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha and IFN-gamma. The therapy is currently in Phase I clinical development in Taiwan for the treatment of stage I or stage IIa colon cancer following curative surgical resection.
