Overview

This autologous mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy is developed by the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for the treatment of chronic medium-severe periodontitis. The therapy utilizes autologous MSCs, a portion of which are predifferentiated in an osteogenic direction, immobilized on a biodegradable collagen carrier (a porous membrane derived from bone collagen). This biological product is surgically implanted into periodontal bone defects to promote the regeneration of the tooth-supporting apparatus, including the alveolar bone, periodontal ligament, and cementum. The mechanism of action relies on the stem cells' ability to differentiate into specialized periodontal tissue cells and provide trophic support to the surrounding environment, facilitating structural and functional restoration of tissues destroyed by chronic inflammation.
