Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MSC-AFP is an investigational therapy that uses autologous mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) coated on a biomatrix (Gore Bio-A Fistula Plug) for the treatment of perianal fistulas in patients with Crohn's disease. The therapy involves harvesting the patient's own mesenchymal stromal cells, which are then used to coat a fistula plug that is implanted into the fistula tract. This approach aims to promote tissue regeneration and healing of the fistula. MSCs are known for their anti-inflammatory, immunoregulatory, and immunosuppressive properties, which may contribute to their therapeutic effect in inflammatory conditions like Crohn's disease.
