Overview

This investigational autologous biologic therapy, developed by Clinique Juge, consists of intra-articular injections combining autologous microfat with platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Evaluated in the MICROPREP clinical trial (NCT04352075), the treatment utilizes the patient's own processed adipose tissue, which contains stromal vascular fraction cells and mesenchymal stem cells, alongside concentrated platelets and growth factors from PRP. The microfat acts as a biological scaffold or matrix to contain the PRP and potentiate its trophic effects on injured cartilage, aiming to reduce symptoms and delay the need for knee arthroplasty in patients with knee osteoarthritis resistant to medical treatment. It is classified as an Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product (ATMP).
