Autologous mobilized peripheral blood mononuclear cells (mPBMCs) are a heterogeneous population of immune and progenitor cells, including hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) and potentially mesenchymal stem cell-like precursors, collected from a patient's own peripheral blood following stimulation with a mobilizing agent, most commonly Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor (G-CSF). In regenerative medicine, particularly for neurological conditions like cerebral palsy, these cells are harvested via apheresis and re-infused intravenously. The therapeutic hypothesis suggests that these cells migrate to sites of injury where they exert neuroprotective and neuroregenerative effects. This is thought to occur through the secretion of various neurotrophic factors, the modulation of inflammatory responses, and the promotion of angiogenesis, rather than solely through direct cellular replacement of damaged neurons.
