Overview

Autologous nano-fat + platelet-rich fibrin is a combination regenerative therapy being developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Guangdong Medical University for the treatment of chronic wounds, particularly diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs). Nano-fat is an emulsified form of autologous adipose tissue that is rich in adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) and essential extracellular matrix components, but depleted of mature adipocytes. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a second-generation platelet concentrate that forms a natural fibrin scaffold, providing a reservoir for the sustained release of growth factors, including vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β). The combination aims to overcome the impaired healing environment of diabetic wounds by promoting neovascularization, reducing inflammation, and accelerating epithelialization and collagen deposition.
