Autologous non-cultured extracted hair follicle outer root sheath cell suspension (NCEHFORSCS) is a cell therapy used for the repigmentation of stable vitiligo lesions. The procedure involves extracting hair follicles, typically from the patient's scalp, and enzymatically processing them to isolate cells from the outer root sheath (ORS). This cell population is rich in melanocytes, keratinocytes, and importantly, melanocyte stem cells, which have a high proliferative capacity and superior melanogenic potential compared to epidermal melanocytes. Because the cells are non-cultured, the transplantation can be performed in a single session without the need for specialized cell-culture laboratories. The resulting suspension is transplanted onto a recipient area of depigmented skin that has been prepared via dermabrasion or laser ablation, where the cells migrate and differentiate to restore skin pigmentation.
