Autologous peripheral blood mesenchymal stem cells are multipotent stromal cells isolated from a patient's own (autologous) peripheral blood. These cells can differentiate into various cell types including osteoblasts, chondrocytes, myocytes, and adipocytes. They are used in regenerative medicine due to their ability to home to sites of injury or inflammation and secrete bioactive factors that promote tissue repair and modulate immune responses. The use of the patient’s own (autologous) MSCs reduces the risk of immune rejection and eliminates donor compatibility concerns. Clinical applications under investigation include orthopedic injuries (such as cartilage or tendon repair), autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular conditions, neurological disorders, graft-versus-host disease prevention/treatment after transplantation, and other degenerative diseases[2][3][5][6]. The procedure typically involves mobilizing stem cells into the bloodstream with growth factors (e.g., G-CSF), collecting them via apheresis from peripheral blood, processing/concentrating them in a laboratory setting if needed, then re-infusing or injecting them at the site of injury[2][4].
