Overview

Autologous peripheral blood mobilized mononuclear cell therapy is an investigational biologic treatment developed by Seoul National University Hospital for diabetic painful neuropathy. The therapeutic process involves mobilizing a patient's own mononuclear cells using granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), harvesting them via apheresis, and subsequently administering them through intramuscular injections into the lower limbs. This approach is designed to counteract the microvascular rarefaction and neurotrophic factor deficiencies associated with diabetic neuropathy. By promoting angiogenesis and providing a source of neurotrophic factors, the therapy aims to improve nerve blood flow, support nerve repair, and alleviate neuropathic pain.
