Overview

Autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a therapeutic concentrate of platelets and associated growth factors derived from a patient's own peripheral blood. The preparation process involves centrifuging whole blood to separate and concentrate the platelet fraction, which is rich in alpha-granules. Upon activation, these granules release a variety of bioactive proteins, including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF). These factors are thought to promote tissue repair, angiogenesis, and the modulation of inflammatory responses. In the context of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), PRP is being investigated for its potential neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects. At the Iffat Anwar Medical Complex, it is being evaluated as part of a multi-modal regenerative therapy that also includes photo-biomodulation and umbilical cord-derived exosomes.
