Overview

This autologous tumor cell vaccine is an investigational immunotherapy developed by the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins. It is prepared using a patient's own harvested cancer cells (such as leukemia or multiple myeloma cells), which are typically irradiated to prevent further growth while maintaining their antigenic profile. The vaccine is designed to stimulate a personalized immune response by presenting a broad array of patient-specific tumor-associated antigens and neoantigens to the immune system. In clinical settings, particularly post-hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), it is often administered alongside donor lymphocyte infusions (DLI) to enhance the graft-versus-tumor (GVT) effect and eliminate residual disease in patients with high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), or multiple myeloma.
