Autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte-based immunotherapy is a personalized adoptive cell therapy developed by CuraCell Holding AB for the treatment of solid tumors, specifically colorectal and prostate cancers. The therapeutic process involves the surgical extraction of a patient's tumor tissue, from which naturally occurring tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are isolated. These T cells, which have already demonstrated an innate ability to recognize the tumor, are expanded to large populations ex vivo in the presence of interleukin-2 (IL-2). Following a lymphodepleting conditioning regimen, the expanded TILs are re-infused into the patient, where they can recognize and destroy malignant cells by targeting a broad spectrum of tumor-associated antigens and patient-specific neoantigens. This approach leverages the diversity of the patient's own immune repertoire to overcome tumor heterogeneity.
