Autologous tumor infiltrating lymphocyte injection is a form of personalized immunotherapy in which lymphocytes (T cells) are harvested from a patient’s tumor tissue, expanded ex vivo, and then re-infused intravenously after lymphodepletion and often followed by high-dose interleukin-2 to enhance T cell persistence and function. The therapy leverages the naturally occurring anti-tumor activity of T cells already primed within the tumor microenvironment. These TILs can recognize a diversity of tumor antigens and mount a cytotoxic response against the cancer, offering a polyclonal and patient-specific approach distinct from engineered cell therapies such as CAR-T. This treatment has shown efficacy in metastatic melanoma and is under investigation for other solid tumors, such as cervical, lung, and gastrointestinal cancers[1][2][3][4][5].
