Overview

Autoprobiotic enterococci are a personalized live biotherapeutic product (LBP) consisting of indigenous, non-pathogenic strains of *Enterococcus faecium* or *Enterococcus hirae* isolated from a patient's own fecal microbiota. Developed by the Institute of Experimental Medicine in St. Petersburg, Russia, this autologous probiotic therapy is designed to restore intestinal microbiocenosis and reduce postoperative complications in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC). The treatment process involves isolating the patient's specific enterococci strains before surgery, culturing them in a soy-based protein-vitamin-mineral complex (such as SUPRO PLUS 2640 DS), and re-administering them orally in the early postoperative period. The therapy aims to suppress pro-carcinogenic bacteria like *Parvomonas micra* and *Fusobacterium nucleatum*, decrease pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6 and IL-18, and enhance the alpha diversity of the gut microbiome, thereby improving clinical outcomes and reducing inflammation.
