Overview

AV1015 is a peripherally acting small molecule inhibitor of the CD38 enzyme, currently in preclinical development by Aeovian Pharmaceuticals. CD38 is a cell-surface enzyme and a major consumer of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) in mammalian tissues; its activity is known to increase with age and in various pathological conditions, leading to a decline in NAD+ levels. By inhibiting CD38, AV1015 is designed to boost intracellular NAD+ concentrations, thereby supporting mitochondrial function and metabolic health. The compound is being developed for the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), Becker Muscular Dystrophy, and obesity, where NAD+ restoration is expected to provide therapeutic benefits by improving muscle function and metabolic homeostasis.
