Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AV2 is an investigational topical antiviral cervical spray composed of natural essential-oil constituents carvone, eugenol, geraniol, and nerolidol in olive oil. It was developed for human papillomavirus-associated cervical lesions and cervical HPV infection. Its proposed mechanism is extracellular viral inactivation before cellular entry, but no validated molecular target has been established. AV2 has been evaluated in placebo-controlled clinical studies, including a published phase 3 trial in women with HPV-associated cervical lesions.
