Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**AV2-SA2** is an investigational topical combination regimen for **cutaneous warts** caused by human papillomavirus. It combines AV2, also called Omnivirol, a virucidal essential-oil mixture containing carvone, eugenol, geraniol, and nerolidol, with salicylic acid. AV2 is postulated to deactivate infectious HPV virions before cellular entry, while salicylic acid provides local keratolytic and ablative removal of wart tissue. The regimen was evaluated against salicylic acid alone in the randomized OVW-SA001 study. ([sciencedirect.com](https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2451865420300181))
