AVA-201 is a preclinical RNA interference therapy consisting of mesenchymal stem cell–derived extracellular vesicles (exosomes) that are engineered to be enriched with microRNA-185 (miR-185) for local application to oral premalignant lesions. These engineered MSC exosomes deliver miR-185 to epithelial cells, where miR-185 downregulates Akt pathway genes, reduces proliferative and angiogenic markers such as PCNA and CD31, and activates apoptotic cascades (including caspase-3 and -9), thereby suppressing dysplasia development in oral potentially malignant disorders and oral cancer models.[4][15] The program has been developed by Avalon GloboCare as a novel, minimally invasive biologic approach for prevention and treatment of oral premalignant disease and oral cancers.[4][15]
