Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Avacc 10 is an intranasal booster vaccine developed by Intravacc for the prevention of COVID-19. It utilizes outer membrane vesicle (OMV) technology, combining OMVs derived from *Neisseria meningitidis* with stabilized SARS-CoV-2 spike proteins. The vaccine is designed to stimulate both mucosal and systemic immunity by inducing immunoglobulin A (IgA) and IgG responses, which can cross-neutralize various SARS-CoV-2 variants. Preclinical studies demonstrated high levels of IgG and IgA production, broad cross-protection against circulating variants, reduction in upper respiratory tract viral load, and a favorable safety profile. Phase I clinical trials in Australia have shown that the intranasal administration of Avacc 10 is safe, well-tolerated, and capable of eliciting a robust immune response without serious adverse events[1][3][4][5][7].
