Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Avacc 101 is a preclinical intranasal prophylactic subunit vaccine candidate being developed by Intravacc, with epitope design support from EpiVax and funding from CEPI, to provide broad, durable protection against multiple betacoronaviruses including SARS-CoV-1, SARS-CoV-2, and MERS-CoV.[6][8][13][15] It uses Intravacc’s bacterial outer membrane vesicle (OMV) platform to present engineered universal spike protein antigens and conserved T‑cell epitopes, aiming to induce robust mucosal and systemic humoral and cellular immune responses that can cover current and emerging betacoronavirus variants.[6][7][8] The vaccine is administered intranasally to promote local immunity in the upper respiratory tract, with the OMV carrier serving both as a delivery vehicle and an intrinsic adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity.[6][8][12]
