Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AvailOm is an oral nutraceutical omega-3 lysine complex developed by Evonik that combines the omega-3 free fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid with L-lysine in a solid powder formulation. The complex is designed to dissociate rapidly in the stomach, releasing free fatty acids that can be absorbed without the hydrolysis step required for ethyl ester omega-3 products, which is intended to improve bioavailability. Reported biology includes cardiovascular support effects associated with omega-3 fatty acid delivery and AMPK-eNOS-mediated vasorelaxation signaling, with use positioned for heart, brain, joint, eye, and cerebrovascular health as a dietary supplement ingredient rather than a regulated pharmaceutical drug.
