Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AvantGel is a topical antimicrobial gel developed by AvantGuard for the decolonization of *Candida auris* from the skin. The formulation is based on the Avantamine™ platform, which utilizes N-halamine (chloramine) chemistry to deliver oxidative halogen species. This mechanism of action provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, effectively killing fungi and bacteria while also reducing biofilms. AvantGel is currently in the IND-enabling stage of development, with the company intending to pursue regulatory pathways such as Qualified Infectious Disease Product (QIDP) or Orphan Drug designation to address the urgent threat of multidrug-resistant pathogens in healthcare settings.
