Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVANZ Mite (also known as AVANZ Mite mix) is a subcutaneous specific allergen immunotherapy (SCIT) developed by ALK-Abelló for the treatment of house dust mite-induced allergic rhinitis or rhinoconjunctivitis, with or without asthma. The product consists of a biologically standardized allergen extract derived from the house dust mites *Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus* and *Dermatophagoides farinae*, adsorbed onto aluminium hydroxide. It is designed with a simplified, short up-dosing phase (typically 5 weekly injections) to reach the maintenance dose, facilitating patient compliance. AVANZ Mite works by inducing immunological tolerance, characterized by significant increases in allergen-specific IgG4 and IgE-blocking factors, which suppress IgE-mediated allergic responses and reduce immediate skin reactivity.
