AVAXIM Pediatric

AVAXIM Pediatric (also known as Avaxim 80U Pediatric) is an inactivated hepatitis A vaccine developed and manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur. It is indicated for active immunization against infection caused by the hepatitis A virus (HAV) in children and adolescents aged 12 months to 15 years inclusive. The vaccine contains formaldehyde-inactivated hepatitis A virus (GBM strain) adsorbed onto aluminum hydroxide as an adjuvant. It is administered as an intramuscular injection. In clinical trials, such as the Hutterite Influenza Prevention Study (NCT00877396) led by McMaster University, AVAXIM Pediatric has been utilized as an active control/comparator vaccine rather than as a treatment or vaccine for influenza itself.
