Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVB-001 is an investigational encapsulated cell therapy product developed by Avenge Bio. It consists of engineered human ARPE-19 cells that constitutively express native human interleukin-2 (hIL-2). The product is delivered via intraperitoneal injection, where the encapsulated cells locally secrete IL-2 to stimulate immune responses against tumors. This approach aims to provide sustained, localized cytokine delivery at the tumor site while minimizing systemic toxicity. AVB-001 is part of Avenge Bio’s LOCOcyte immunotherapy platform and is being developed primarily for relapsed or refractory, platinum-resistant high-grade serous adenocarcinoma of the ovary, primary peritoneum, or fallopian tube[1][2][7].
