Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVB-004 is an allogeneic encapsulated cell therapy developed by Avenge Bio for the treatment of solid tumors. It was built upon the company's proprietary LOCOcyte™ platform, which utilizes synthetically engineered allogeneic cells encapsulated in a biomaterial to enable localized, high-dose delivery of immune effector molecules directly to the tumor microenvironment. This approach is designed to modulate the local immune system and precipitate a systemic immune response while minimizing systemic toxicity. While other candidates in the LOCOcyte™ pipeline were engineered to produce specific cytokines such as IL-2 or IL-12, the specific therapeutic payload for AVB-004 was not publicly disclosed before the program was discontinued.
