AVB-S6-500 + pegylated liposomal doxorubicin is a combination therapy under investigation for the treatment of platinum-resistant recurrent ovarian cancer. AVB-S6-500 (batiraxcept) is a recombinant fusion protein that specifically binds to the ligand growth arrest-specific 6 (GAS6), acting as an AXL inhibitor. By sequestering GAS6, AVB-S6-500 prevents activation of the AXL receptor tyrosine kinase, which is implicated in tumor growth, metastasis, and resistance to therapy. Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin is a formulation of doxorubicin encapsulated within liposomes coated with polyethylene glycol (PEG), which enhances circulation time and preferential delivery to tumors via the enhanced permeability and retention effect, reducing systemic toxicity. The combination is intended to target cancer growth and progression through both cytotoxic action (by doxorubicin) and inhibition of tumor cell survival signaling (by AXL inhibition)[1][5][2][7].
