AVCETP is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody being developed by Avestha Gengraine Technologies (Avesthagen) for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer. As a biosimilar to trastuzumab (Herceptin), it is designed to bind to the extracellular domain of the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2/ERBB2). By binding to HER2, the antibody inhibits ligand-independent HER2-driven signaling pathways, such as the PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathways, which are critical for tumor cell proliferation and survival. Additionally, it mediates antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) through its Fc region, recruiting immune effector cells to destroy the target cancer cells. The drug is part of Avesthagen's biopharmaceutical portfolio targeting emerging markets.
