Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVE0675 is a Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) agonist that was developed for the treatment of allergic asthma. Discovered by Coley Pharmaceutical Group and licensed to Sanofi-Aventis in 2005, the drug was designed to modulate the immune response by stimulating TLR7, which is primarily expressed on plasmacytoid dendritic cells and B cells. Activation of this receptor induces the secretion of Type I interferons and Th1-type cytokines, thereby redirecting the immune system away from the Th2-driven allergic response that characterizes asthma. The program was discontinued during early clinical development following Phase 1 trials.
