Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AVE0991 is an orally active, non-peptide small molecule agonist of the Mas receptor (MAS1), which is the primary receptor for angiotensin-(1-7) [Ang-(1-7)] in the alternative renin-angiotensin system (RAS) pathway. Developed initially by Aventis Pharma (now Sanofi), AVE0991 mimics the physiological actions of Ang-(1-7), including anti-inflammatory, anti-fibrotic, and vasodilatory effects, but with significantly improved stability and oral bioavailability. It has been widely investigated in preclinical models for various conditions, including cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, acute kidney injury, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and neuroinflammation.
