AVE8134

AVE8134 is a potent and selective small molecule agonist of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα), originally developed by Sanofi. It exhibits high selectivity for the human PPARα receptor (EC50 = 100 nM) compared to the rodent version (EC50 = 3000 nM). The compound was primarily investigated for its potential in treating metabolic and cardiovascular conditions, including dyslipidemia, type 2 diabetes, heart failure, and hypertension-related organ damage, due to its ability to improve lipid profiles and glucose metabolism. Additionally, research explored its use in combination with cyclooxygenase inhibitors for anti-angiogenic effects in cancer. Development of AVE8134 has been discontinued.
