Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Aveeno is a brand of consumer health and skincare products, primarily known for its line of emollients and moisturizers used in the management of atopic dermatitis (eczema) and dry skin. Historically developed by Johnson & Johnson and now part of Kenvue, Aveeno products often utilize colloidal oatmeal and paraffin/petrolatum-based formulations to restore and preserve the skin barrier. In clinical studies, such as the COMET trial, Aveeno lotion has been evaluated for its effectiveness and user acceptability in children with eczema. While effective as a standard emollient, some research suggests that trilipid-based creams may be superior in modulating systemic immune markers and preventing allergic sensitization compared to paraffin/petrolatum-based products like Aveeno. The brand was part of the Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health Business that was spun off into the independent company Kenvue in 2023.
