Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream is a topical over-the-counter emollient developed by Aveeno (a brand of Johnson & Johnson/Kenvue) specifically for the management of atopic dermatitis (eczema). Its primary active ingredient is 1% colloidal oatmeal, which acts as a skin protectant to relieve minor skin irritation and itching. The formulation also includes ceramides (specifically Ceramide NP) to help strengthen the skin's natural moisture barrier and prevent the recurrence of extra-dry skin. Clinical studies have demonstrated its ability to improve skin hydration (capacitance) and support barrier function in patients with mild to moderate atopic dermatitis, often compared to other common moisturizers like Cetaphil and CeraVe.
