Overview

Avert is an investigational NKG2D CAR-T cell therapy developed by Cell Medica. It is designed to target neuroblastoma and solid tumors. This therapy involves engineering T-cells to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) based on the Natural Killer Group 2D (NKG2D) receptor. The NKG2D CAR recognizes multiple stress-induced ligands, such as MICA, MICB, and ULBP proteins, which are frequently overexpressed on the surface of cancer cells. Upon binding to these ligands, the CAR-T cells are activated, leading to the recognition and subsequent killing of tumor cells. Avert was in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for its indicated uses.
