Overview

Avesta76 Therapeutics is developing an unnamed small-molecule cancer therapeutic that targets a proposed cancer "masterswitch" by disrupting biochemical pathways required for tumor growth. Currently in preclinical development, the drug candidate is being investigated for the treatment of chemotherapy-resistant ovarian cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, and colorectal cancer. The therapeutic works by inhibiting a validated target that disrupts the normal function of a biochemical pathway that cancer cells need to grow. Early preclinical data from animal models have shown promise for tumor prevention and regression without the cytotoxic effects associated with traditional chemotherapies. The company, also known as Avesta Bio, received seed funding from CANCER FUND in November 2023 to advance this program.
