AVI-009

AVI-009 is an orally available small molecule inhibitor of Rho-associated protein kinases (ROCK1 and ROCK2), developed by Avicenna Biosciences. It is designed to penetrate the central nervous system and target neurodegenerative diseases. The drug’s mechanism involves inhibiting ROCK1/2, which are implicated in regulating cell shape, movement, neuronal survival, growth, regeneration, and inflammatory processes. By blocking these kinases, AVI-009 aims to promote neuronal survival and reduce inflammation—therapeutic strategies considered promising for conditions such as Parkinson’s disease.
