Overview

AVI-6006 is an investigational antisense phosphorodiamidate morpholino oligomer (PMO) therapeutic being developed by AVI BioPharma (now Sarepta Therapeutics) for the treatment of dengue virus infection, including dengue hemorrhagic fever, under its NeuGene RNA-based antiviral platform.[5][8][7] It is designed to bind specifically to dengue virus RNA and suppress translation of essential viral proteins, thereby inhibiting viral replication across dengue serotypes. The program has been supported by U.S. Department of Defense biodefense funding alongside AVI’s other antiviral PMO candidates and has shown preclinical activity in mouse and ferret models of dengue virus infection.[3][5][8]
